Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death by cancer, but the leading cause of death in women between ages 40 - 59. A disease with an unknown cause and no cure so far, it causes emotional, physical, psychological, & financial struggles.

Over the last 45 years, breast cancer occurrences have increased from 1 in 20 women in 1960 to 1 in 7 women today. The occurrences of breast cancer increase in people as they age. The rate is low for individuals in their 20’s, stabilizes around the age of 45, and then increases greatly at the age of 50. Yearly screenings are necessary for women over 65 years as 50% of breast cancer is diagnosed at 65 and older. |

“This year in America, more than 211,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. In addition, 1,600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 400 will die this year. If detected early, the five-year survival rate exceeds 95%. Mammograms are among the best early detection methods, yet 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had a mammogram…”
